The Prime Minister of Slug royalty
Like the mighty OZ, Kim Still pulls the strings behind the royal velvet curtain. Kim has orchestrated the Slug Queen Competition & Coronation since 1994, the year Marionberry Slugan won the crown.
Eugenians recognize Kim Still as the longtime manager the Famous Saturday Craft Market and the Winter Gift Fair and Holiday Market. Kim’s presence has been as ubiquitous around town as our beloved Slugs.
In 2017 Kim retired from the Saturday Market to take over managing the Cottage Grove Events Venue but she continues to be essential in helping the Slug Queens let the slime flow every year at the Saturday Market Park Blocks Stage. While Kim does not vote during the completion, she does create and collect the applications for Slug Queen. She plans the coronation event at the Saturday Market Stage in the heart of Downtown Eugene each August, including the band and event pace. If you are hoping to become queen, Kim should most definitely be on you bribe list.
Kim is the artist who designs a unique crown and sash for each new Slug Queen. In fact, Kim built the head of the traditional SLUG float back in 1993. She recalls, “That was one long, hot, sticky summer!” The perfect conditions for markets, gardens and slugs.
